Finding Maximum Density Axes Parallel Regions for Weighted Point Sets

چکیده
In this work we study the problem of finding axesparallel regions of maximum density for weighted point sets in IR and IR. The 2-d variant is motivated by applications in thermal analysis of VLSI chips.

High-resolution diffusion-weighted MR of fresh and fixed cat spinal cords: evaluation of diffusion coefficients and anisotropy.
PURPOSE To use high-resolution diffusion-weighted and calculated apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) MR imaging to determine whether fixation and storage influence diffusion anisotropy in white matter tracts of cat spinal cord specimens. METHODS Four cat cord specimens were imaged using a diffusion-weighted spin-echo sequence. Diffusion encoding was applied in the section-select axis (parall...

We consider the problem of reliably finding filaments in point clouds. Realistic data sets often have numerous filaments of various sizes and shapes. Statistical techniques exist for finding one (or a few) filaments but these methods do not handle noisy data sets with many filaments. Other methods can be found in the astronomy literature but they do not have rigorous statistical guarantees. We ...
متن کاملA network flow approach in finding maximum likelihood estimate of high concentration regions
A maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method of high density regions in spatial point processes is introduced. The method is motivated from a network #ow approach for #exibly incorporating geometric restrictions in computing the MLEs. An easy-to-implement computational algorithm having a low order of complexity is provided. Simulation studies show that it performs very well in many di6cult situ...
متن کاملNonoverlapping Local Alignments ( Weighted Independent Sets of Axis ParallelRectangles ) ? Vineet
We consider the following problem motivated by an application in computational molecular biology. We are given a set of weighted axis-parallel rectangles such that for any pair of rectangles and either axis, the projection of one rectangle does not enclose that of the other. Deene a pair to be independent if their projections in both axes are disjoint. The problem is to nd a maximum-weight inde...
متن کاملFinding Frequent Patterns in Parallel Point Processes
We consider the task of finding frequent patterns in parallel point processes—also known as finding frequent parallel episodes in event sequences. This task can be seen as a generalization of frequent item set mining: the co-occurrence of items (or events) in transactions is replaced by their (imprecise) co-occurrence on a continuous (time) scale, meaning that they occur in a limited (time) spa...
